Merry Christmas...We Have Eggs

Merry Christmas...almost!  I don't know about you, but Christmas exploded at our house this year.  The decorations are everywhere.  Things were packed away off of the bookshelves and put into tubs and the Vintage Christmas decorations took their spot of honor.  I have always collected vintage and antique Christmas decorations, but this year the collection expanded.  Over the last year we were able to pick up so many cool items.  Some of them I parted with and sold.  The majority of them I have kept and am enjoying.  Christmas deserves it's own post with it's own pictures.  This post is about eggs.  Glass eggs, that is.  

Several months ago we got a call to go and look at a lady's house.  Her parents had passed away as had both of her brother's and she was overwhelmed.  To be honest, we were overwhelmed when we walked in her house also.  But the collections that her family had were amazing.  I instantly fell in love with an entire curio cabinet that was filled with eggs.  I thought for certain that there were hundred of them.

And there were hundreds.

So many that I couldn't come up with a price to offer her for the collection.  I just didn't want one or two...I needed them all.  Fast forward a month and a half and we go back to the house.  Mark had decided that he was going to buy the egg collection for me as a Christmas gift.  Needless to say, we got all of them and there were more packed away in tubs that I knew nothing about.  I think a fair estimate of the total count is around 400 eggs.  There are a lot.  Waterford Crystal, Belleek, Fenton hand painted, Antique Victorian Milk Glass--they are all there.  Eggs that are clocks, table lighters, music boxes, trinket boxes...all there too.  I have never seen so many eggs in my life.  They are glorious!  

It is so much fun unwrapping each egg and seeing them for the first time.  Just so you know, I am keeping my favorites for my collection and plan on selling the rest.  Some of these beauties can be yours!!

**Edit**  I started this post before Christmas when the glow of the lights were warm and welcoming.  I am finishing the post almost 2 1/2 weeks into the New Year and the Christmas is down and put away for the next 10 1/2 months.  I am still looking at eggs on every surface and deciding on those to keep and those to share.  Some of them have already been listed and found loving new homes.  Be sure to check them out in my eBay store.  I am hoping that by posting this, I will be held accountable to get the rest of them listed for sale and off of my dining room table!
