Well, here I am. Days after the yard sale and I am still trying to unbox and organize everything. It is getting better, but is a very slow process. I am still trying to list things on eBay at the same time. I had to stop almost everything yesterday and the day before to wrap packages for shipping. Twenty one things sold over the weekend...21!!!! I've had big weekends before, but nothing like that! Keep it coming though! I need to make room in my storage area for new things and I am quickly running out of room! Yesterday's big find for unpacking treasures was Vintage Christmas Decorations. Two large plastic tubs FILLED with Vintage Christmas. I have decided to wait to get these beauties listed until July. Stores do Christmas in July, so why can't I? I might even decide to do a great Christmas sale then. Not only that, it might very well take me that long to get everything in place! I did decide that I am keeping a few items for my own collection. I can't pass up the Vintage Putz Houses and the Gurley Candles...
The gold candle holder with Christmas Carolers is a Holt Howard. There is no better Mid Century Modern representation than Holt Howard!

Well, here we are. Day two of the Longest Yard Sale on the Washington Peninsula. We stumbled onto this yearly event two years ago not too long after we bought our second house out here. We were looking for things to use in our house before we moved our households out here permanently. This is our third foray into the great abyss of the longest yard sale. 30 miles of sales...and traffic...and people. We started the day yesterday at 8:00 a.m. and got home at 3:30. The sales were still going strong. We were, simply put, exhausted. So the game plan is to head back out this morning and go for another round. We literally can see Washington State from our from window, so thankfully that part of the journey isn't a long one. Head 3 1/2 miles across the Astoria-Megler Bridge and the fun begins. We picked up some great stuff yesterday. An antique Boy Scout Axe was our first pick...and a bunch of silver plate and sterling. Got some incredible Vintage Christmas decorations, Native American basket, bookends, and oh so much more!! Pictures will come later. Right now the mess is completely cluttering the dining room. To be honest, I'm not even sure what all we ended up getting yesterday. It's always a surprise when you unpack! And yes, I am showing you the mess of what it looks like when it is unloaded from the car. Trust me, it is just as unpleasant for me to look at it as it is to have you see it this way. We finished up today's sale and we were a little disappointed. Everything was picked over and felt, well, tired--just like us. We did manage to pick up a couple of goodies. Now the real work begins--the cleaning, the researching, the organizing, and the listing. Wish us luck. I see our Memorial Day weekend being work!
