I Collect Things...

Do you have the collecting bug?  I do.  I could seriously walk up to you and say, "Hello, my name is Heather and I am a collector."  It's evident in my house and almost in every aspect of my life.  I might just have enough collections to not remember everything that I collect.  There really should be a 10 step program or support group for people like me.  My very favorite things are my vintage Halloween and Christmas items.  But it doesn't stop there.

The cabinet is full of Occupied Japan pieces and the jar is full of Vintage Matchbox and Corgi Cars.
This is just one area of the house.  What I collect depends on what I find.  It begins innocently...just one item.  Then I add another one and before I know it, there is a whole cabinet or jar full of whatever it is.  I also have ended up buying, and I suppose, collecting the very same things that my mom did.  Hull Pottery...I buy every piece I find.  I don't even necessarily like it.  I just buy it because she did.  Turkeys?  Same thing.

This is a collection of Hot Air Balloon Festival Lapel Pins.  Have I ever been to a hot air balloon festival?  Nope.  I just liked how colorful all of the pins were.  I live with these collections for a while and then I sell them.  I like to pass the joy onto someone else.  Speaking of that, have you all watched the Netflix series Tidying Up with Marie Condo?  It sent me into a panic.  Does it bring you joy?  Yes.  Yes Marie, it does.

Before I began to write this, I looked up some of the weirdest collections of people.  (I had to make sure that I did not fit into any of the categories.)  Here is some of what I found....
  • Soap Bars
  • 30,000 Toenail Clippings !?!?!?!
  • Chicken Related Items (Guilty Here)
  • Belly Button Fluff--Seriously??
  • Banana Stickers
  • Nails--like the ones you hammer
  • Traffic Cones
There are tons more, but some of them really made me giggle.  I guess we really collect things because something about the item speaks to us.  For me, the item usually sparks a memory somewhere in my mind and makes me happy.

What is it for you?  Comment below and tell me what and if you want to why!  AND, Happy Collecting!!
